The Blubber Hulk (also known as Tubster in the SNES/PS version) is an enemy in Chrono Trigger that appears in the Black Omen.

Physical Appearance[]

He shares similar sprites with a Boss, Heckran, although Blubber Hulk is quite smaller. He is big and rotund, with a dog-like nose and a generally angry expression on his face. while he has two big, white horns atop his head and four smaller spikes on his back. He has enormous, dangerous claws and fangs.

Trivia[]

  • It is possible to receive more than one Strength Capsule by running away from the fight right after the Charm tech is used. This process can then be repeated as many times as desired by simply exiting through one of the doors nearby and then reentering - thus allowing for an infinite supply of Strength Capsules.
  • In the DS version of the game, is actually possible to fight them more than once, which makes it an even easier way to get Strength Capsules. The first one you meet in the room after the merchants Nus can be fought as many times as wanted by simply going back to this room and re-entering it again. Note that it doesn't work if you go to the next room and come back where the enemy was.

Name Etymology[]

Blubber is a thick layer of fat found beneath the skin of some animals, such as whales. Hulk refers to something that is bulky or unwieldy. He sports gigantic muscles and incredible strength. The name Blubber Hulk is fitting seeing as this enemy is very fat.
